Programming under construction.
Welcome to IDEA~U, an open educational exchange for professionals in the Game Ops industry. For over 25 years, IDEA has been on the cutting edge of sharing information amounst members of the industry. This newly developed online offering is an extension of the IDEA's mission to "foster, cultivate and maintain the high professional, educational, creative, and technical standards of its members in all areas of the electronic display industry".
IDEA~U strives to open the lines of communications between IDEA and YOU. The concept was developed to address the frustration of those who often find themselves producing programming for an entertainment segment in which they have no prior experience. IDEA~U hopes to help shorten the learning curve to allow the new in-game entertainment professional to hit the ground running.
In the first phase of implementation, IDEA~U offers a primer course designed for those new to the Game Ops industry. Later phases will address more advanced coursework for seasoned professionals.
Ready to Begin?
IDEA~U is designed as an informal learning environment that allows for you to drop in and out of various topics. There are no scheduled meetings or classtime...learners simply explore the various resources when it is convenient for them. There are four sections of IDEA~U: Ask the Professor, Learning Modules, Just for Fun and Resources.
Ask the Professor allows you to explore a number of questions that are commonly asked by Game Ops professionals. You may choose to simply view the answer to your question, or take advantage of the suggestion of additional topics you might want to explore.
Learning Modules consist of five content areas: Engineering, Entertainment Elements, Management, Marketing and Production. Within content areas are various topics and within topics are individual tasks. Each task is designed as a stand-alone item, making it easy to choose your level of participation to reflect your own needs.
Keeping in the spirit of IDEA, Just for Fun offers members the opportunity to share thier productions and serves as a great resource for programming ideas.
Resources offer a compilation of various information available to the Game Ops professional.
Your feedback on this new venture would be greatly appreciated!
